Harrow Borough Council Case Study

Between 2012 and 2022 QHS were the appointed Gas Services Contractor for Harrow Council for 10 consecutive years. During this lengthy partnership QHS qualified Gas Safe gas engineers undertook the following works:

  • Annual LGSR landlord gas safety checks
  • Domestic boiler repairs
  • Maintenance and repair of communal boiler houses
  • Boiler recommission for new tenants
  • Gas pipe re-runs

In addition Harrow Council during the 10 year relationship asked QHS to carry out these additional services:

  • Central heating system replacement and installation
  • Carbon Monoxide alarm replacement
  • Void property checks and decommission
  • Acquisition property checks

Furthermore on Monday 23rd March 2020 QHS commenced work at Harrow Weald in the main plant room. The project itself was to renew boilers and supply pipework to each individual block. The project consisted of three phases:

Phase 1: We replaced and renewed the main plant room boilers and supplied pipework to each individual block.

Phase 2: The 2nd phase was about the installation of the boiler that supplies heating and hot water for flats 29 to 32. During this phase we also installed a boiler and renewed all pipework in the community hall.

Phase 3: This phase involved the installation of a boiler in flat 28 which was above the community hall. We also undertook the re-running all of the flats internal pipework and radiators.

This project had to be put on hold due to the first National UK COVID-19 Lockdown, and was only able to re-commence once it was legal to do so and extra safety measures and procedures had been devised and put into place to cope with the affects of the pandemic. The extra lengths that QHS staff and operatives went to protect residents, whilst still getting the jobs done safely and efficiently, was very much noticed and appreciated by both Harrow Council and the Chair of HFTRA, as you can see below.

"Worthy of note is the way that Quality Heating Services are handling the COVID-19 situation......despite all restrictions concerning public safety/social distancing, as a team they pulled together and produced a workable strategy plan; this has resulted in all Government/contractual targets being hit." Paddy Lyne - Chairman - Harrow Federation of Tenants and Residents Association

"A special thanks to all your engineers and staff who have been working tirelessly on the front-line managing the service for our residents during this challenging year. Thank you very much for all your support and tremendous effort. Kind regards." Subhash Patel - Repairs and Maintenance Manager - Harrow Council
