Did you know that on 1st February 1995 it became a requirement that all new domestic electrical appliances must be supplied with an appropriately fused pre-wired plug.
1995 was also the year QHS was established, and has since evolved to the point where QHS offer a full range of electrical installations, repairs, safety warning systems and condition reports, plus also install dual fuel Smart meters and Electric Vehicle Charge Points, along with other Green Technologies such as Air Source Heat Pumps.
In the UK, fused power plugs and sockets connect electric equipment to the alternating current (AC) mains electricity power supply. Electrical plugs and sockets differ from one another in voltage and current rating, shape, size and connector type.
A fuse is an essential electrical safety device that provides over-current protection of an electrical circuit. A fuse is a vital component (effectively a metal wire or strip) that melts when too much current flows through it, thereby stopping or interrupting the current. It is a sacrificial device, hence why “blown” fuses have to be replaced with the correct ampage before a plug is safe to reuse, or indeed be able to be used.
