Did You Know That...........

Did you know that on Valentine’s Day in 1995 Sizewell B nuclear power station, the UK's only commercial pressurised water reactor power station, was first synchronised with the National Grid.

Sizewell B located in Suffolk station started generating electricity 27 years ago on 14th February 1995 and since generated so much power its output is enough to meet the electricity needs of every one of the 2.57m homes in the East of England, for more than 23 years.

Output from Sizewell B nuclear power station remains the UK’s most efficient nuclear reactor. Combined all the UK’s nuclear stations have clocked up two thousand terawatt hours of zero carbon electricity, more than enough to power all the UK’s homes for more than 18 years.

These power stations have not only powered the country and sustained thousands of jobs – they have also helped it avoid the emission of seven hundred million tonnes of CO2, so they are extremely Green in terms of clean green energy generation.

At QHS we are keen to become Carbon Neutral at the earliest possible opportunity, which is why in 2021 QHS took delivery of its batch of first electric vehicles, with the genuine ambition to make the step change to an all-electric vehicle fleet by 2023. This underpins QHS's passion to be Carbon Neutral as a company by 2025. Find out more about QHS’s Green Credentials
