Her Royal Highness Celebrates Her 96th Birthday Today
Her Majesty the Queen was born in 1926, not in a royal residence, but in a London townhouse on Bruton Street, where she first lived with her father and mother, who went onto become King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
The Queen is celebrating her 96th Birthday today - 21st April 2022 at Sandringham with members of her family and friends. She is the longest living Monarch in history and has sat on the throne for longer than any other King or Queen, with 2022 being her Platinum Jubilee Year, having been crowned Queen at Westminster Abbey in 1952.
Her Majesty at 96 is understandably less mobile nowadays and has had to miss a number of events she would previously always have attended. Her only public appearance so far in 2022, outside of her own residences or on video, was at the Thanksgiving Service for her husband Prince Philip at Westminster Abbey.
