QHS Fixes Merton Music Foundation's Boiler at Mitcham Music Centre

On Tuesday 28th March 2023, Darren O'Brien, a QHS qualified gas engineer attended Soundwave at Abbots Road, Mitcham, CR4 1JS at the request of QHS to fit a hive controller to a boiler free of charge to get it back up and running to help out Merton Music Foundation, the charity that runs the site. This fix enabled the Soundwave Music Centre to have controllable heating and hot water.

For over three decades, Merton Music Foundation (MMF) has been providing exciting and enriching musical experiences to thousands of children and young people thought the London Borough of Merton. Their offerings include singing and instrumental lessons; DJ and music production skills, choirs, bands and orchestras; school initiatives and their renowned biennial Royal Albert Hall concert.

Since Covid, MMF has expanded its reach to four locations now available across Merton including Soundwave in Mitcham where young people can study DJ skills, music production, ukulele, violin, guitar and piano. Much of this provision is generously made possible through support from the Jack Lonergan foundation who put MMF in touch with QHS.

Having a new hive controller on the boiler at Soundwave will enable the building to be warm and comfortable for young people attending their after-school music lessons. MMF would like to say a huge thank you to QHS for supporting the young musicians of Merton who learn at Soundwave!

QHS were delighted to be able to help out this charity in their hour of need. This sort of community support assistance fits in with QHS's Corporate Social Responsibility Policy which believes that actions are better than words.
